Chemical processing plant — unplanned maintenance turnaround

A chemical processor needed replacement Viton gaskets for a reactor vessel during an unplanned shutdown. Their usual supplier quoted a 3-week lead time. We cut and shipped all 36 gaskets within 2 days.

The Challenge

During a routine inspection, the maintenance team discovered degraded gaskets on a reactor vessel's flanged connections. The vessel couldn't be put back into service until all 36 gaskets were replaced, and the plant was losing production capacity every day the vessel was offline. Their existing gasket supplier quoted 3 weeks for custom Viton cuts to the required ASME specifications.

Our Solution

The maintenance manager uploaded photos of the existing gaskets along with the flange schedule. We confirmed the dimensions against ASME B16.21 standards, verified Viton FKM was the right material choice for the chemical service conditions, and had the full order cut within 24 hours. All 36 gaskets were shipped priority overnight.

The Result

The gaskets arrived on-site 48 hours after the initial quote request. The maintenance crew completed the vessel reassembly that same day. The plant estimated the faster turnaround saved roughly 12 days of reduced production capacity compared to waiting on their original supplier.

This kind of timeline is typical for our standard workflow. Because we keep common materials in stock and cut to order rather than stocking standard sizes, we can usually turn around even larger orders within our standard 2-day window.

The customer has since set us up as a secondary gasket supplier for their facility, placing orders as needed during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance windows.

~40%lower gasket costs

HVAC contractor — switching from distributor to direct cutting

A regional HVAC contractor had been sourcing EPDM and neoprene gaskets through a supply house at standard distributor markup. After switching to direct-cut ordering, they reduced their per-gasket costs significantly with the same or faster delivery times.

EPDM & neopreneMixed sizes, 2"–8"No minimum orderMonthly recurring

The Challenge

The contractor's crews needed a steady supply of standard flange gaskets — mostly EPDM and neoprene in common pipe sizes from 2" to 8". They were buying through a regional distributor at retail pricing, and lead times were inconsistent: sometimes 3 days, sometimes 2 weeks. The unpredictability made it hard to plan jobs, and the pricing ate into project margins on smaller contracts.

Our Solution

We set them up with a simple ordering process: their project managers submit the pipe sizes, material, and quantities through our quote system, and we cut and ship within 2 business days. No minimum order quantities, no account setup fees. They typically place 1–2 orders per month with a mix of sizes.

The Result

Over the first six months, their average per-gasket cost dropped by roughly 40% compared to distributor pricing. Delivery became predictable — consistently within the 2-day standard window. The consistency let them tighten their job scheduling and reduce the inventory they needed to keep on their trucks.

The savings come from a straightforward difference in business model. Distributors carry inventory, maintain warehouses, and employ sales teams — all of which adds cost. We cut to order from sheet stock, which keeps our overhead low and lets us pass that through as lower pricing.

The contractor now includes our standard lead time directly in their project timelines rather than padding extra days for distributor variability.
